Are the "Lawyer in the Library" and "Social Worker in the Library" services available?
The Enoch Pratt Free Library, in partnership with Maryland Legal Aid, is pleased to offer free one-on-one legal services on a variety of civil issues, through Lawyer in the Library. Maryland Legal Aid attorneys, paralegals, law students, and volunteer attorneys will be on site at select branches providing brief, one-on-one advice for a variety of civil legal issues.
Lawyer in the Library is available in-person on an occasional basis. The service is also available by email at virtualcommunitylawyer@mdlab.org or by phone at (443) 451-2805. Please include your name and legal issue in your email or voicemail, and your message will be returned within 48 hours.
Our Social Worker in the Library service accepts walk-ins at some of our Pratt Library locations. No appointment is necessary. Get help with a variety of issues, including (but not limited to): access to public assistance (food stamps, medical, childcare subsidy, etc.), referral to housing, and financial assistance / counseling.
